Yeagar Airport Runway Expansion

If you've glanced at airport hill here in Charleston you've had to notice the deforestation being done around the hill for runway expansion. From the ground you can't really tell that much is being done but from the air you can see the part that has been built. I don't think the runway itself is any longer but they have the new "Grey Pit" at the end now. I believe this pit is like a runaway truck ramp, the airplanes will sink into this pit if they go off the end of the runway, preventing them from going over the mountain. This shot was from a recent commercial aerial photography job I did. The photos really aren't that great due to atmospheric conditions, it was really hazy under the clouds.

Red, Yellow & Blue

I'm back!!!! It's been really tough keeping up with my blog so I think I have found the solution. The problem stems from having to have my digital SLRs with me all the time. They are big and bulky and not very friendly to travel with. So, I am hoping that my new FinePix A820 will allow me to start posting photos daily, or at least on most days. These are from the first batch of photos I took with it!

Atmosphere Study

What the camera saw during a long exposrue...
Closer to what my eyes see....
One of the biggest things I miss since my raft guide days is being able to see a clear view of the night sky. Now that I live in the city the sky is always hidden by a layer of light, air pollution, and on this particular night steamy humidity. All of these things block out the night sky. However, the orange glow is a pretty neat effect. The glow comes from the street lights along my road and when the shutter is left open for a long time we can see how it gets reflected up above the actual height of the lights themselves.
